Bergman’s Faces (2020) is an attempt to collect, study, and appreciate close-up shots in Bergman’s films. These close-ups are not only the filmmaker’s visual hallmark, but each independently function as a window into the identity of the characters, capturing Bergman’s distinctive use of human face as a landscape of psychological depth, vulnerability, and unspoken emotion.
